During a difficult time in my Christian walk, I had to struggle to find joy because the issue had to do with a family member. I had to struggle to even pray because I had lost my strength. These tips below helped me, I pray they will help you.
Nehemiah 8:10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.
Love seeks the best for the other person, even when it means bearing difficulties. Love is not egoistic and does not live in the expectation of having one’s own wishes or ideals fulfilled. Love wants to protect others from everything that would destroy what is lovable and respectable about them. For this reason, love can express itself in strictness towards others, and above all, strictness towards one’s own selfishness and vanity. Love does not want to possess others, but respects their freedom and responsibility in front of God, their maker. Love is selfless, and does not turn into bitterness when it is not loved in return or is despised.
If the devil can steal your joy, then he has your strength. There are several ways you can keep your joy even though the devil may have attempted all that is possible to hinder your joy.
1) Read the word of God daily to remind you of the promises God has made to you and your children. Read through the promises, thank God daily for your salvation and pray for your children daily who may not be saved and leave it in the hands of Jesus.
2) Do not allow negativity into your eye gate, or ear gate. With all the negative news on each channel on television today we are literally bombarded with negative thoughts. We are to guard what we watch and what we allow into our ears to hear. If you can guard these by watching what you watch (only let it be holy things) and if you can watch what you allow into your ears (not spending time with ungodly people and watching and hearing ungodly movies on tv or television programs).
3) Fasting at least once a week off of food entirely or just water for 24 hours and praying as often as possible and ask the Lord to restore your strength. Ask him to identify in your life how you lost your strength and joy and to assist you with restoring it. our God can do anything. Have faith in Him and ask him for your needs daily.
May God bless you and help you keep your joy.
